Bachata
Bachata is a slow, sexy romantic dance that can be danced very close depending on the comfort level of the dancers! It’s done wherever Salsa is danced, so it tends to draw younger people.
History
Bachata began as a specific style of music in the rural Dominican Republic in the 1960s. The music and dance were vehemently rejected by the established dance society in the Dominican as low class and associated with a dissolute lifestyle. In the 1980s Bachata began being performed on television, and finally gained a widespread following. The music has been mixed with R&B and modern Bachata is slower and more romantic.
